Roses are Free bag
Take a piece of tinsel and put it on the tree
Cut a slab of melon and pretend that you still love me
Carve out a pumpkin and rely on your destiny
Get in your car and cruise the land of the brave and free
But don't forget to understand exactly what you put on the tree
Don't believe the florist when he tells you that the roses are free
Take a wrinkled raisin, and do with it what you will
Push it into third if you know you're gonna climb a hill
Eat plenty of lasagna 'til you know that you've had your fill
Resist all the urges that make you wanna go out and kill
But don't forget to understand exactly what you put on the tree
Don't believe the florist when he tells you that the roses are free
Throw that pumpkin at the tree
Unless you think that pumpkin holds your destiny
Cast it off into the sea
Bake that pie and eat it with me
Throw that pumpkin at the tree
Unless you think that pumpkin holds your destiny
Cast it off into the sea
Bake that pie and eat it with me
one of my favorite cover songs that Phish performs on a consistent basis, this song has the ability to make me smile even on the saddest of days. (yay to the guys from Ween for writing such an amazing song) to me, it's a song about wading through life, trying to make the right choices and if things don't work out then scrap it and try again. it symbolizes the fluidity of life and the paths we choose but remains optimistic that as long as you remember who you truly are, then you can remain authentic.
so, on this day, the 5th anniversary of the day my daughter died, i listen and smile through the tears, knowing life will continue and i'll have days filled with happiness, others filled with sorrow. i'll be confronted with serious decisions and required to make tough choices as to which path to follow, but that's kind of the whole point to life, isn't it?
finished this bag last night. it's a smaller version of my Stella Blue bag, measuring 11" tall by 10" wide with 2 straps (as opposed to the SB bag which has 1 long strap). 2 roomy interior pockets allow ample space for stashing your phone and other small items. the fabric used is from the Amy Butler Love line, with bliss bouquet used as the interior lining and straps.
